WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is a low-impact exercise for both mind and body. Physio- led Pilates has taken the traditional exercises developed by Joseph Pilates and modified them to make it suitable for almost everyone.
Pilates is designed to strengthen the deep abdominal muscles, lower back, and glutes, which gives you a solid foundation to move from.
Accomplished through a mat-based regime with small equipment, it involves coordinating deep postural and stability muscles while breathing and moving your arms & legs. Not only will this improve your strength, but also your flexibility!
Classes generally start in standing for the warm up, then moving onto the mat for the main body of the class, and finishing with a cool down for stretching.
